Born in Guangzhou, China, Li Silei began her musical training at the age of 4, honing her skills under the guidance of renowned professors. After winning several national competitions at an early age, she had opportunities to perform as a soloist across Asia.
Silei holds a Bachelor's degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and a Master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London. During her studies, she worked closely with esteemed pedagogues such as Zheng Shisheng, Remus Azoitei, Hu Kun, and Guillaume Sutre.
In 2014, Silei was selected as a member of the String Academy of the London Symphony Orchestra, where she had opportunities to play alongside some of the world's finest musicians. That same year, she graduated with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music and joined the Macao Orchestra.
With the orchestra, she has toured to Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Portugal, Japan, and Mainland China, performing under the baton of Maestro Lü Jia.
During her tenure, she has also served as the acting concertmaster of the orchestra and as the first violin of the Macau Orchestra String Quartet, participating in the chamber music concert series. She has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Macau Orchestra during their 2020-2021 season.
From 2016 to 2019, Silei worked as a violin teacher and chamber orchestra instructor at the Macau Conservatory of Music. Her students gained admission to prestigious institutions such as the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and the China Central Conservatory of Music. Additionally, her younger students successfully passed the Trinity ATCL Performance Diploma and the ABRSM Grade 8 exam.
Silei has participated in and performed at numerous prestigious festivals and competitions, including the Lucerne Festival, Enescu Festival and Competition, Pacific Music Festival, Macau International Music Festival, Macau Baroque Festival, Qingdao International Music Festival, Carl Nielsen Masterclasses, and the Shanghai Spring International Festival. She was invited to participate in the Global Concerts of Chinese Artists in 2015 and 2019. In 2024, Silei received an invitation from the London Symphony Orchestra to participate in season concerts as a guest musician.
