The First Prize winner and recipient of the Baroque Prize at the 2012 San Antonio International Piano Competition, Dr. Lo-An Lin, was born in Taipei. A pianist with “brilliance” and “thoughtfulness” (San Antonio Express), Lin has performed throughout the United States and abroad. She gave her debut recital at Carnegie, Weill Recital Hall as the winner of Lowry Award at Eastman School of Music. Highlights of her solo performances include performances and recitals at the Seoul National Arts Center in Korea, National Recital Hall and Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan, the Steinway Hall in New York City, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Lin has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras, such as the San Antonio Symphony, the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, the Queensland Orchestra in Australia, the Glenn Gould School Orchestra in Canada, the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra, the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, Eastern Music Festival Orchestra, Suzhou Chinese Orchestra, and the
Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan.
Lo-An has received top prizes and acclaims from numerous international and national piano competitions. She was the recipient of the First Prize and the Baroque Performance Prize at the 2012 San Antonio International Piano Competition, First Prize at the collegiate division of MTNA Piano Competition in California and the First Prize at the National MTNA Senior division competition, Third Prize at the Corpus Christi International Piano Competition, Second
Prize at the Lennox Young Artists International Competition, First Prize, and Audience prize, Concerto prize, and Best performance of an Australian work prize at the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, First Prize at the Viardo International Youth Piano Competition, Second Prize at the Missouri Southern International Piano Youth division, and Second Prize at the Kosciuszko
Foundation Chopin Piano Competition.
Dr. Lin has served on the judging panel of the Eleventh Steinway Piano Competition East China District Final, the Ninth Boya Piano Competition national final, the 2023 Articiál International Piano Competition, Orbifold International Piano Competition, the 16 th Shanghai International Youth Competition, Heddy Kilian Competition and others.
Lo-An’s students have also been prize winners in many competitions, including the Liszt Memorial Prize International Piano Open Competition, Hsinghai Cup National Piano Competition in China, London Young Musician Competition, Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition, Pre-election of Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children, Starlight Cup Competition, Steinway Piano Competition (East China division), Golden Bauhinia International Competition, the Asia International Music Competition, Kawai Asia Piano Competition, and Shanghai International Piano Competition.
Dr. Lin received her graduate degrees from Yale University School of Music (Artist Diploma) under the tutelage of pianist and professor Hung-Kuan Chen, and Eastman School of Music (MM, and Doctor of Musical Arts) studying with Dr. Nelita True. Dr. Lin has taught at Eastman Community Music School, Nazareth College, Eastman School of Music, and Yale School of Music. Lo-An has given masterclasses at BNU-HKBU United International College in Zhuhai,
China, University of Arizona, Weber State University, Denison University, East Tennessee State University, University of Alabama, Bowling Green State University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Lee University. Dr. Lin currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Piano at Soochow University School of Music in China.
