A full-time member of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan since 2000,
Ms. Chen has had extensive experience working with numerous concert artists as an orchestral player and a chamber musician.
She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Mass. Her principal studies in cello performance were with Peter Stumpf, David Wells, Colin Carr, and Laurence Lesser.
After school, she served as a juror at the Music Teachers National Association
competition of the East Coast in 1999.
She also taught at NEC's Preparatory division, Walnut Hill Art High School, Mass., and Concord Community School in New Hampshire.
As a soloist, she played Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the KSO in 2002, and performed a benefit concert “Saving Grace” with 11 other cellists in the famous
Weiwuying Concert Hall of Kaohsiung, in 2023.
As a music director of Kaohsiung Camerata, she has programed and performed numerous successful concerts throughout Taiwan.
She is also a highly active cello and chamber music teacher in the Kaohsiung area.
